Zermatt is lively village in the south of Switzerland, very close to the Italian border. From here you’ll have a magnificent and exceptional view on the Matterhorn, the mountain that is commonly known from the Toblerone chocolate bar. Zermatt is a winter fairy tale, pure romance. This typical Swiss village offers the perfect conditions to ski or snowboard as it offers a large variety in slopes, lifts and many off-piste possibilities with unlimited fun on snow: 360 km of pistes. As Zermatt is a car-free village, it is very peaceful and eco-friendly. Everyone moves around on foot or by electric vehicle.
As my fresh husband and I love to ski, we decided to go on a mini-honeymoon to Zermatt three days after we got married. We stayed at Unique Hotel Post, a traditional, modern and romantic hotel with a vibrant night life in the middle of the city center. In 1875 this hotel opened its doors for tourists. A few years ago they re-decorated this hotel which resulted in a very timeless, homely and warm atmosphere and a Mountain Lodge Style with an international touch. As it was our honeymoon, they decorated the room with big red hearts when we arrived. Each morning we woke up with a beautiful view and enjoyed the delicious breakfast with bubbles, croissants, yoghurt, eggs, salmon, fresh fruits and more. After we skied all day long we had a drink on the terrace of the cocktail bar after which we went to the sauna. Unique Hotel Post has four restaurants and five bars & clubs under one roof so we sure had fun at night but – on the other hand – required ear plugs if we went to bed before 1:30 am. The hotel also includes a small SPA that spoiled us with a Finnish sauna, vapour bath, large jacuzzi and waterfall showers. The famous Matterhorn is the godfather to this hotel and they are symbols for sustainability, affinity to nature and elegance. We loved staying at this boutique hotel that has been decorated like a chalet. The personal was very nice and the hotel was very clean. Unique Hotel Post is the perfect getaway for a romantic weekend or honeymoon.
