24 Mar The family jewel vintage bag!
This week will be all about vintage on this blog. With proud I must admit that my grandma is a true fashionista. She is gracious, unique, innovative, elegant she is always wearing heels. Not only is she a very big example, this lady is also my biggest inspiration.
As long as I can remember I go shopping in three generations: my grandma, my mother, my twin-sister and me. Even today, now that it is harder to continue this shopping-ritual for time and distance reasons, we still are able to shop together with the help of technique. It was only this Saturday that my grandma sent me a picture via WhatsApp of a dress by Maje that I went buying at De Bijenkorf (you will see the result thereof later). But she does not only pick my favorite items, I also love to wear her accessories. I am very lucky as my grandmother has a great taste and has a talent for trend-forecasting. I therefore love borrowing items from her as they are timeless and exclusive. Besides the fact that her accessories are lovely and easy to match my outfits, I also like to wear these items because I feel an extra emotional connection to that particular piece of clothing. There is a history and a story in that piece, it has become a family jewel.
Like this bag, which my grandmother added to her collection to complete her outfit decades ago. This is a bucket bag by Picard, a brand that was set up in 1928 by Martin Picard and his sons in Obertshausen and is known for the creation of fine leather goods. It has all the features of the original bucket bag: the Noé Louis Vuitton bucket bag. It has a rectangular base, closes with a drawstring and a shoulder strap. This bag also has a small zip-compartment on the backside as well as inside plus a fashionable flap to make sure it closes properly. It is timeless and made of quality leather so I therefore still love to wear this bucket as well as my twin-sister.
So tell me, would you wear the bags from your grandma?
