Grab your bag and go skiing in Italy!

Although Easter has been a while ago, I still owe you this “postcard- story” from our little getaway in the Italian Alps. It all started when my boyfriend got this great idea! He suggested to go skiing during the Easter holidays. And although it was already spring time he assured me that there would be excellent snow cover in Breuil Cervinia, a small idyllic little village at the foot of the Matterhorn. The idea of skiing made me smile as well as the thought of Italy so we decided to grab our bags and go visiting the mountains. So on Wednesdat 1 April we arrived at Hotel Meuble Gorret after a smoothless 11-hours drive. And when we finished unpacking our bags and suitcases in our romantic room, we went out for drinks and pizza at La Grotta.

When we woke up the next morning my boyfriend looked really sad. He already checked the online lift-status, but unfortunately they would all remain closed because of the wind. Although my disappointment, I decided to turn around and to sleep for another 8 hours. But as I was falling asleep I was thinking “Hello, we are in Italy and only 1.5 hours drive away from beautiful Turin“. So despite the fact that I could have slept all day, we decided to opt for Turin where it was 20 degrees. We absolutely loved this city and were totally captured by its relaxed vibe, delicious food (including ice-cream), fashion and hospitality. If we go back we will definitely visit Roberto at I Tartufi Bistrot again and let him spoil us with his homemade white-truffle pasta!

The next three days we enjoyed fantastic conditions with lots of sunshine and snow. I can fully say that spring is a very good time to grab your bag and go to the high mountains, especially to the Italian Alps. The people are super friendly and hospitable and they can prepare you the finest food. In this area you can use 19 lift systems in Breuil Cervinia and 34 in Zermatt. I just couldn’t get enough of the slopes on my skis and snowboard. One day we ordered cheese fondue in Zermatt and the next we had pizza on the Italian side. Yes, it was the greatest Easter holiday!
