28 Nov My favorite Riad in magical Marrakesh!
Grab your bag and go to Riad Tawargit in Marrakesh!
Once we had decided to go to Marrakesh, we directly knew that we wanted to stay in a Riad which is a traditional home in the middle of the old Medina. It is the best way to experience this magical city as it offers the perfect combination of modern comfort with the long-established and enchanting Moroccan culture. A friend told us about Riad Tawargit and after we checked the internet we were very keen to stay here. Especially when we noted all the splended reviews on tripadvisor (nr. 69 of the 1,144 Riads in Marrakesh!).
When we arrived at the airport, our driver was already waiting to safely bring us to our riad. He easily moved through the narrow city gates and after he parked the car, we only had to walk 100m through a calm and narrow street and knocked on the beautiful big wooden door of the hotel. We were welcomed by the kindest crew and stepped into the modern version of a little, beautiful Moroccan palace. They immediately made us feel at home as they poured us a glass of the fresh mint tea and offered us some delicious cake.
I instantly loved how the modern furniture mixed with the traditional Moroccan design. Riad Tawargit is elegant and chic in a very relaxed way. It has two patios with several cozy and semi-private lounges. And for ultimate leisure we could use the jacuzzi, visit the hamman or make an appointment for a massage.
Riad Tawargit has five rooms and four suits, all decorated very warmly and intimately. We stayed in Suite 7, a very spacious room with soft earth tones and a little private terrace with a wonderful view on the small patio. The bed was very comfortable as well as the rain shower that was hidden in the spacious bathroom. We did not have to use the safe as we felt very protected. And the best part, the wifi-connection was the best (in the entire Riad;))!
Every morning Soufiane and Yassine made us a delicious breakfast with fresh orange juice, sweet pancakes, home made jam, toasted bread and more. They were also very helpful in answering all our questions, whether it was getting a taxi or a plaster.
The location of this Riad in Marrakesh was very central and easy to find. It only took us 5 minutes to walk to Djemaa El Fna (the big square), Palais Bahia and the Souks. So we only needed a taxi whenever we wanted to go to the new town, le Jardin Majorelle or a pool outside the city.
Marrakesh is a dream. And even though you don’t necessarily have to leave town you could consider to go on a trip. For example, if you want to explore more of the Moroccan country and culture like visiting a typical Berber family in the High Atlas, you can arrange several tours via this Riad. Olivier, who is the manager of the Riad, could arrange the best tours via Sahara Experience; but more about that will be soon on the blog.
I hope that this article defines my enthusiasm about our stay in this wonderful Riad Tawargit in Marrakesh. I can really recommend you adding this place to your bucket list so you can stay here one day as well! And I hope I will meet you there as I can’t wait to go back one day to experience their sincere hospitality all over again..!
