What to wear when you go wine tasting?!

One of the great things about California is that it has many beautiful wineries! And I just love wine and bubbles and so do my parents. So when they came over to visit my husband an me in San Francisco last week, a visit to Napa Valley was on top of our list. It is only a 1,5 hour drive from San Francisco and we had so much fun as we were driving in our new car (a Mustang convertible!). We did the beautiful drive along Highway 1, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge and the beautiful vine-covered hills. You could say that this road trip is worth the ride on its own, especially when you stop at the Boon Fly Cafe for lunch. Afterwards we went to Domaine Carneros, a beautiful winery that is famous for its sparkling wine and pinot noir and has been a California wine country landmark since 1989. The royal setting with its grand staircase, formal gardens and amazing outdoor terraces, looked very appealing and was truly worthy to shoot this look which I will use to give you some recommendations on what to wear when you go wine tasting..!

What to wear when you go wine tasting?

  1. The perfect bag: The blue envelope clutch by Unisa is the perfect bag for a day like this. It is trendy in a casual way and an elegant and feminine bag without being too fancy. It has the perfect size as it fits my phone, my lipstick, car keys and my id – very important here in the U.S. if you want to have drink and don’t look like 40 yet. Whenever I wanted to hold my wine in one hand and grab a small bite with my other hand, I was able to wear this clutch as a shoulder bag by attaching the shoulder strap on both sides of the bag. For these reasons, this Unisa bag is perfect for wine tasting.
  2. As it is Spring in California as well, you are never sure what the weather will do exactly. For that reason, I strongly advice to put on layers: a shirt, a blazer and a shawl. You should also make sure that you bring sunglasses (or a fashionable hat) as some wineries have beautiful patios which are very enjoyable once the sun is out! And when you go into a cellar, it might get frizzier so you will definitely need that shawl.
  3. Camouflage colours to cover when you spill wine: I chose to wear this lovely layered outfit with a lot of blues, a touch of pink and splashes of other fun-loving colours that you can see in my shoes, Sperry boat shoes, watch and shawl. This way you will look fashionable till the end of the day!
