14 Jul Report of SS16 Catwalk at MBFWA
The 23rd edition of Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam is a wrap and that means that the full report of the SS16 Catwalk at MBFWA can be given. I visited seven shows & loved each of the collections in a different way. To share my thoughts with you I selected several images of my favorite pieces of each of the fashion designers. If you look at the pictures we can conclude that SS16 will be all about metallics, graphic designs, floral prints, ruffles, mesh and cut outs, all completed with a big backpack or – on the contrary – a simple black clutch. So take a glimpse yourself: scroll slow & have fun;)!

Aziz Bekkaoui
His show is called `United origins´ and the designer aimed to bring you back to the everyday urban look by using asymmetry, see-through materials, bright colors in combination with basic black, blue and white, ruchus and sequins. This appearance is finished with a golden touch like the shoes, gloves and the backpack.

Monique Collignon
The classic, sexy and super feminine silhouettes decorated with embroideries, shimmerings and many ruffles made all the people in the crowd shivering from excitement. After seeing this Couture Fashion show, I am official a Collignon-woman.

Noir Near Future
This show, Fantasies of anxiety, started off with plain black suits with white words of “anxiety” printed on them. Bregje Cox, who was probably inspired by technology, surprised the public half-way though the show when models walked in wearing light dresses in exotic colors with a dash of the 40s and graphic, futuristic forms with small mirrors on the tops, coats and on the (big) backpacks.

Tony Cohen
By using a natural color palette and very fine materials, Tony Cohen turned his models into power women with graphic cut outs and square shapes. Who wouldn’t want to wear a piece of this Dutch designer to feel invincible?

Lichting 2015
Fourteen students were competing to be the winner of Lighting 2015 and after they each showed five pieces on the Catwalk, the international and national jury decided that Nikki Duijst would be the number 1. Her silhouettes hint at the influence of an interaction between femininity, seclusion and exposing yourself. What do you think of her collection “As we seek our face”?

Maria Cle Leal
The show of Maria Cle Leal was called Fragile and enriched by the appearance with Mr & Mrs Doutzen Kroes as well as by the beautiful ballet moves of Naiara Rojo. She kept dancing in between the walking models that were showing the SS16 collection, consisting of woolen creations in bright fuchsia, black and cream. The only accessory that should be added to these kind of dresses is a black clutch. The show ended with light blue dresses in the floral print made of fine material that was floating in the air.

Oilily
Little girls grow up! When you think about Oilily you think about style, color, silk, everyday wear, floral prints and the striking accessories. Singer Fay surprised the audience with an act during the finale while champagne was handed out to celebrate the fabulous come-back of Oilily.
